The Colchester/Milton Rotary Club is stepping up to help save lives this month.
On Monday, May 22, the club will host the first of what is expected to be many blood drives this year in partnership with the American Red Cross.
“What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country,” Rotarians Janet Stecklare and Chuck Ginsburg stated in a press release. “We are very excited about this drive and hope you will come out to support it by donating blood.”
Blood donors can help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, according to the American Red Cross.
Each pint of blood collected can help to save up to three lives.
The Rotary’s drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church at 784 Main Street in Colchester. Everyone who donates will be entered in a raffle for prizes from local businesses. The Red Cross will give a beach towel to all donors as well.
