In their first win of the season, the Yellowjackets held North Country Union High School to get a taste of victory. Amanda Parizo had the only goal of the game, and Aly Sheehan made five saves to hold on to the shutout for Milton.

The Milton High School girls’ golf team played their sixth match of the season on Thursday, Sept. 20 at Champlain Country Club. With the weather finally getting cooler, the season will be drawing to a close in early October.

For the Milton Broncos, the new president will have to convince parents all is well after Milton police cited their former leader for embezzlement last month. And the newly minted middle school club team must show padded flag football is just as cool as tackle.

After a tenure riddled with controversy, embattled president Matt King resigned from the Milton Broncos on Monday, hours before the school board agreed to a plan that effectively saves middle school football in town.

On June 25, the Milton School Board granted Ultimate Frisbee varsity status in a 3-2 vote. The team will be able to play at the junior varsity and varsity levels beginning in the spring season 2019.

The Milton Broncos youth football program will ask the Milton Town School District to adopt its two tackle teams this fall, leaving just the youngest grade flag teams under its purview.

Bridget Hamel started for BFA and pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win, striking out seven while giving up four hits and a walk. Faith Orton struck out three in two innings of relief, and Taylor Mitchell came on to get the last out in the seventh on another strikeout.

After opening the baseball season with a dozen losses in a row, Milton baseball finished on a roll as Andrew Harvey ended up as the winning reliever in his own start, which ended in a 7-6 win in eight innings over Vergennes on Alex Line’s walkoff hit.
