MILTON — The entire Milton Boys Varsity Basketball roster contributed to the team's win on Wednesday night over Mount Abe, 62-45.
The game was the first of the playoff season and was played on the Yellow Jacket's home court, in the gymnasium of Milton High School. Milton is now 6-1 this season.
After the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets held a strong lead of 22-10. By halftime, Mt. Abe had closed the gap to just 31-25.
"Mount Abe had a couple very nice runs to keep the game close in the second and third quarter," Head Coach Chris Brown said in a statement. "I think our guys responded well and we got some needed defensive stops and had some very strong finishes at the rim."
In the third quarter, Milton extended it's lead 44-34, scoring 15 points and allowing only five from Mt. Abe going into the last quarter of the game.
Kyle Brown led Milton in scoring with 23 points. He also had three rebounds and three steals. Other top scorers included Colin Mathis with 10 points, Dan Moshovetis with nine and Brandon Dallas Jr. with eight.
Mt. Abe's high-scorers included Griffin Paradee, Brett Sargent and Henry Cogswell.
In the next playoff round, Milton will face off against Fair Haven at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20 at Milton High School. The game will be live-streamed on LCATV.
