The Milton Police Department responded to 123 incidents between May 7-13 including 45 traffic stops, 4 suspicious events and 3 mental health issues.

Sgt. Locke helped teach a driver’s education class, focusing on the Vermont Drug Recognition Program.

[Motor Vehicle Complaint] 05/07/21 9:54 a.m. 514 US Route 7, Milton, VT

Officer Jones was dispatched to a report of a tractor trailer truck that was being driven erratically. Upon locating the truck and trailer he determined the operator was not intoxicated and had been forced to take a turn wide because of the trailer. 

[DUI-Alcohol] 05/08/21 2:22 p.m.  Russell Cir, Milton, VT

Courtney Verwey, 19, of Milton was arrested on Suspicion of DUI. She was cited into court for a later date. 

[Accident - Personal Injury] 05/08/21 4:04 p.m. 360 Lake Rd, Milton, VT

CPL. Coulombe responded to a single car motor vehicle accident on Lake Road near Sanderson Road. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was headed westbound at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate the curve and leave the roadway. There was totaling damage to the vehicle as well as damage to private property. The operator was issued a traffic ticket for speed to fast for conditions. 

[Motor Vehicle Complaint] 05/09/21 02:32 : Us rt 2 / South Hero, South Hero, VT

OFC Noel observed an unoccupied vehicle on US Route 2 near the county line with Grand Isle County. OFC Noel was not able to locate the operator and requested that dispatch call him. Dispatch advised that they made contact and the male was fine and fishing in the area. 

[Domestic Disturbance] 05/09/21 1:13 p.m. Boysenberry Dr , Milton, VT 

CPL Coulombe and CPL Porter were dispatched to third party call about a domestic in which the female had punched the male multiples times. Upon their arrival the female advised nothing had occurred and would not cooperate. The male advised he did not want to speak to the police and left. The caller’s identity was unknown and there was no evidence beside the call to indicate an assault took place. With both parties being uncooperative the officers cleared the scene.

[Assist - Public] 05/10/21 7:18 p.m. Murray Ave, Milton, VT

OFC. McQueen spoke to a female who was calling to report that she had loaned her car to her friend and that she had expected the car would be returned by now. After talking with OFC. McQueen the complainant decided to wait a little longer and see if her friend returned the vehicle. She was advised to call back if the vehicle was not returned. 

[Welfare Check] 05/10/21 3:49 p.m. 339 Sanderson Rd, Milton, VT

CPL Porter was dispatched to the area of 339 Sanderson Road for a distress signal being emitted by a XMSirius radio. Dispatch advised that according to the company the vehicle was last travelling north. The vehicle was described as a green jeep wrangler. CPL. Porter conducted a check of the area and could not locate the vehicle. #339 Sanderson Road also does not exist. No other calls were received on this vehicle. 

[Suspicious Event] 05/11/21 1:36 a.m. 78 Precast Rd, Milton, VT

While conducting property checks CPL Grenier observed a light on Camp Precast Concrete that is not usually on. Upon check the area and facility he detected no signs of criminal activity and found the area to be secure. 

[School Resource Officer Activity] 05/11/21 3:09 p.m. 17 Rebecca Lander Dr, Milton, VT

SRO Raymond participated in a learning exercise at the Milton High School in which a game was played in which the participants learned how to handle work conflicts. 

[Suspicious Event] 05/12/21 12:23 a.m. U.S. Route 7, Milton, VT

OFC Bosworth was dispatched to a local car dealership for a report of teo males looking at the cars in the rain. OFC Bosworth made contact and learned they were looking at antique vehicle. OFC Bosworth suggested they look at the vehicle during normal business hours. 

[ATV/Snowmobile Complaint] 05/12/21 4:58 p.m. 67 W Milton Rd, Milton, VT

CPL Coulombe came across two individuals who were operating ATV’s on the property at 67 West Milton Road without permission. CPL Coulombe trespassed the individuals at the request of the land owner.

[Motor Vehicle Complaint] 05/13/21 6:42 a.m. Everest Rd / Mears Rd, Milton, VT

SGT. LaFountain responded to the intersection of Mears and Everest Road for a report of a broken down vehicle. The vehicle was found to not be an immediate traffic hazard. Upon calling the owner it was discovered that they had a tow service on the way.
