Milton High School was evacuated this morning after an “unexpected chemical reaction” in a science lab, a news release from the office of superintendent Ann Bradshaw said.

“Due to the nature of the experiment” the alarm was set off, she added.

Students and staff remained outside the building for about 35 minutes until Milton Fire Department deemed the building safe for re-entry, the release said.

Milton Rescue evaluated the students closest to the reaction and found no injuries, Bradshaw continued.

Fire crews left the Rebecca Lander Dr. school around 11:45 a.m.
