Adrienne Hurst’s goal sent Milton and St. Johnsbury into overtime in last Thursday’s field hockey game, and Deanna Lambert sent the Yellowjackets home happy with a last-minute score for a 2-1 win.
The Hilltoppers (1-4-1) took the lead with a first-half goal, but Hurst evened the score in the second half.
In overtime, with just 42 seconds remaining, Lambert got free on a breakaway and scored to give Milton a .500 record and its fourth win of the season — surpassing its total for all of the 2012 season with six games remaining this fall.
“It was a game full of intensity, communication and heart,” Milton coach Heather Crowley said. “Both teams played extremely well.”
