The Milton girls varsity soccer team traveled to Montpelier last Friday, Jan. 17 to be recognized for its 2013 Division II state championship.

Upon arrival, the team was ushered into the Statehouse where Speaker of the House Shap Smith read a resolution detailing the thrilling season that ended with Milton winning the program’s 12th state championship in girl’s soccer.

After being recognized by the House of Representatives, the girls were taken on a tour of the Statehouse.  They met Lt. Gov. Phil Scott in the Senate chamber and were given a brief overview on how Vermont’s government operates. Then, Milton representatives Don Turner and  Ron Hubert took the team on a tour and further explained the daily happenings at the legislature.

The team and coaches would like to extend a huge thank you to Don Turner for organizing a perfect day to cap off a fantastic season.
