Milton High School will have the welcome mat out for visitors in three playoff games and another that might as well be in the next four days, starting with first-round soccer playoff games Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Yellowjacket boys (6-7-1) earned the eighth seed in Division II soccer and will take on No. 9 Mill River Union H.S. (5-5-4) on Tuesday at 3 p.m. On Wednesday at 3, the third-seed Milton girls (9-3-1) face No. 14 Hartford (3-11).

In field hockey, the fourth-seed Yellowjackets (6-8) will play their first home tournament game since 2009 when fifth-seed Lyndon Institute (5-8-1) visits for a quarterfinal match Friday at 3:45, kicking off a big doubleheader at Phil Hughes Memorial Field. Milton and Lyndon split their two regular-season games, with the Vikings winning 2-0 in the season-opener in Lyndonville on Sept. 4 and the Yellowjackets taking a 2-1 win Oct. 8 in Milton, a victory that enabled them to avoid a first-round trip to Lyndon.

The second half of that doubleheader will be a crucial football game against Rice at 7 p.m., a game Milton has to win to have a chance at making the playoffs. Even with a win over the Green Knights, Milton would only get into the Division II tournament if Burr & Burton also defeats Fair Haven in another Friday-night contest.

Games at 3 p.m. unless noted
