Alexis Drown’s all-around and floor exercise wins helped Milton defeat visiting South Burlington in last Wednesday night’s gymnastics competition, 113.75-101.9.
Drown scored 7.7 on floor to lead a Milton sweep of the top three spots, with Davilyn Bourne second at 7.25 and Meghan Fondakowski third at 7.0. Drown edged out Bourne for all-around honors by a tenth of a point, 28.75-28.65. Along with her runner-up effort on floor, Bourne was fourth on the balance beam and uneven bars. Drown added a third on beam.
Other top-four finishers for the Yellowjackets were Hailey Hemingway, who was second on bars, and Makaylah Mullins, who took fourth in vault behind three Wolves gymnasts.
Milton (3-4) outscored South Burlington in three of the four disciplines, losing only on vault by 0.55 points. The Yellowjackets picked up 4.75 points on floor and, with only three South Burlington competitors, won the bars by 6.9 points.
