Letter: Organizations assisting organizations

The Milton Family Community Center would like to thank the Milton Recreation Department for collecting donations during the Winter Festival to benefit our food shelf. Close to $300 was collected to help purchase food to feed your hungry neighbors.

Thank you also to everyone who contributed. Your generosity is appreciated beyond measure. Milton is a caring, compassionate community where neighbors take care of each other. You keep our shelves stocked with hearty, nutritious staples, which are available to anyone who needs help getting through the month with food on their table. With recent cuts to federal and state food assistance programs, we are seeing an increase in the number of requests for food assistance. We have also noticed more families are coming to us more than once a month or earlier in the month. Community organizations and events holding food drives are so important to keeping our shelves stocked.

Thank you again Milton Rec, and all the groups that make food collection a part of their program. Food donations can be dropped off at MFCC any time between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or left in the food shelf bin at Hannaford. If you are interested in organizing a food drive at your place of work or in your neighborhood, please contact me at 893-1457.
