Q: How do you serve the community?
A: Every week I help create lesson plans and go over to the elementary school to teach German to Ms. Reid’s fourth grade class. I knew I wanted to volunteer at the elementary school because I want to be a teacher. Doing this was a good opportunity to get experience teaching.
Q: Why are these important projects, and what will result?
A: I really enjoyed doing this because it helps get younger kids in the community to become interested in other languages and cultures. Hopefully it will influence their decisions about language in high school.
Q: What have you learned about your community from doing these projects, and how have they made you a better student?
A: Doing this has helped me realize how bright and motivated the incoming high school students are. Seeing how hard they work inspires me to continue to seek a career in education.
