Have you been down to the Milton Farmers Market yet this year? If you have, then you know the abundance of fresh produce, baked goods, crafts, and more that the market has to offer.
If you haven’t stopped by the market on Thursdays from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Hannaford Plaza on Route 7, then what are you waiting for?
Every week we have free live music, activities for kids and vendors with a spectacular variety of wares.
But why shop a farmers market? Why buy local?
Well, first of all, buying local is important because it keeps your money local! Supporting local businesses is a win-win because it ensures success in our beautiful state.
Secondly, buying local is great for the environment. On average food travels thousands of miles before reaching our plates. Because food doesn’t move on its own, that means planes, trains and automobiles are integral in transporting food from all over the world.
As we know, this increases greenhouse gas emissions and pollutes our environment. By buying local, you cut down on the your food’s carbon footprint.
It’s also important to know your farmer. Come talk to our vendors about how they grow or make their product. Understand where your food is coming from, and teach your children that things like tomatoes don’t come from the grocery store, but rather from the hard-working smiling farmer that you met at the farmers market.
Vendors at your Milton market include our lovely produce vendors Ted Beaudoin and Bergeron and Sons produce; meat and egg vendors like Arrowhead Forest Farm, Spring Meadows and Happy Bird Poultry; bakers like Wally’s Place Bagel and Deli; prepared food vendors Mediterranean Mix and Nikos Souvlaki; dessert vendors like Happy Cow Cheesecake and Kingdom Creamery, amazing crafters like Indie Beautique, Norma’s Creations, and Craft Nook. With such a variety of wares, this is your one-stop shop until the last market in October 11.
Have kids? Bring them! We provide produce activities, contests and live music at every single market. Our farmers market is not only great for purchasing goods; it’s also simply a fun place to spend your Thursday night. Follow us on Facebook at Milton Farmers Market-VT to get weekly updates about who will be at our market and what types of promotions we are offering every week. We can’t wait to see you!
