‘Close to home’

Milton fire and rescue crews responded to a structure fire on Overlake Drive on Tuesday afternoon, the home of one of their own. Milton firefighter Jeremy Couillard and his wife, Rae, who serves on the Milton School Board, were not home during the onset of the fire at 82 Overlake Dr. At 2:10 p.m., a neighbor called in the flames, which started in the garage and moved its way up the walls into the attic, eventually caving in the roof, Milton Fire Chief Don Turner said. ‘A trailer park graduation’

Catamount Industrial Park in Milton is home to two new buildings as of last week after a ceremonial “trailer park graduation.” NG Advantage and J.P. Noonan General Transportation can now begin to fully settle into the park. For the past three and a half years, compressed natural gas company NG Advantage worked out of onsite trailers. By the end of the month, it hopes to move its dispatch and operation center and offices into the newly constructed building. 2015 LCI winner on the hook for fraud charges

Last year’s Lake Champlain International Father’s Day Derby winner is on the hook for alleged fraud. Craig Provost of Plattsburgh took home $13,000 in 2015 for breaking a derby record with the contest’s largest walleye fish. The catch? He wasn’t the one who caught it, LCI says. Provost’s teammate reeled in the fish, but had not purchased the “cash extras” that allotted Provost a larger winning sum, LCI executive director James Ehlers said.
