Fast start for Yellowjackets fades in Enosburg

with additional reporting by DILLON HUPP Milton scored the first seven points last Thursday night at Enosburg, but the Hornets fought back with a balanced offense for a 77-54 victory. Capitalizing on aggressive full-court defense, Enosburg combined fast-break layups and strong shooting from beyond the arc to rally for a 19-13 lead after one quarter and was up 44-26 at halftime. “We fell back into bad habits. We have to get better at beating the press,” Milton coach Jim O’Grady said. Hurting the Yellowjackets’ cause was their failure to convert several easy looks point blank at the basket, while...

Football in review

The Yellowjackets reached the Division II football playoffs in the fall for the second straight season, but were knocked out by second-seed Bellows Falls, 35-0. After losing two of its first three games — the opener against Lyndon and two weeks later to eventual state champion Rice — Milton rallied with four straight victories. A loss to Division I Colchester ended the string of wins, but a win at North Country to close the regular season wrapped up the third seed for MHS. Football was inadvertently omitted from the Year in Review sports article in the December 27...
