Driver cited for leaving scene

Vermont State Police say a 60-year-old Milton man left the scene of an accident at Georgia Market on Wednesday. Troopers from the St. Albans barracks responded to the Route 7 market at 7:30 a.m. July 11. Investigation revealed Jean Yergeau backed into a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Shannon Lawrence, also of Milton, and fled the scene. Police say Yergeau didn’t report the crash to law enforcement or Lawrence. Town leases Grange for $1

The town of Milton has signed a 20-year lease with the Milton Grange for its Route 7 building in a move town manager Don Turner hopes will create more rentable event space in town. The selectboard officially signed the lease last month, and the town started its tenancy July 1. It will pay the Milton Grange $1 a year for 20 years with the option to extend for two five-year periods, the lease says. We all scream for free lunch

The atmosphere was decidedly carnival-like at Milton Elementary & Middle School last Friday as the district kicked off its free summer meals program. This is the sixth year the school has served up free, nutritious meals, made possible by a federal grant. Milton man found dead at rest stop

Vermont State Police have identified a man found dead at an Interstate 91 rest stop in Windsor County last week, a press release Monday said. Troopers say 48-year-old David L. Valenti was found dead in his vehicle at the Exit 9 park-and-ride in Hartland last Thursday, June 21. A concerned citizen alerted Vermont State Police, who responded with the assistant state medical examiner to investigate, a press release said. Bradshaw takes leave; AD steps down

Milton School District superintendent Ann Bradshaw is on medical leave that might extend to the end of her tenure, school board chairman Mike Joseph confirmed Tuesday. Separately, incoming athletic director Andrew Flaherty has resigned before he even started in Milton, Joseph said. Joseph learned Bradshaw was taking leave through the Family and Medical Leave Act on Monday, May 21 via human resources director Terry Mazza, he said.
