An Essex man was arrested around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning after police say he set fire to a pile of his ex-fiancés belongings in the driveway of his rental residence, a press release said. Police say they responded to a reported structure fire at a multi-unit condominium complex located at 86 Colchester Rd. An Essex Town employee accidentally disclosed confidential records of 262 municipal staff to a fraudster, a town press release said on Monday. In the emails, which were sent to the town on April 8 and 9, an unknown person posed as a town official and requested payroll records for all town personnel, police say. It was a clean sweep for Essex’s budget season after voters approved all three proposed school budgets and their accompanying articles Tuesday.
