Milton – Eva M. Shafer, 89, formerly of Middlebury, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018. Eva was born on June 7, 1929 in Willimantic, Conn., daughter of Charles and Hazel (Jones) Rayhall, and sister to four siblings. On Oct. 14, 1948, she married William E. Shafer for 69 years. Together they had a lifelong journey of raising five children and being involved in multiple business ventures. Eva lived an extremely active life, from owning and managing two dairy farms, one in Connecticut and one in Cornwall; grocery stores in Wardsboro, So. Police searching for offensive teen Milton police are searching for a juvenile male, 14-15 years of age, riding a bicycle behind two runners on Monday, June 11, a news release said. The cyclist was following the runners, showing his genitalia and making explicit statements, police said. He was wearing a bright red shirt and black basketball shorts and had short black hair. Candidates file petitions for House seats

All four of Milton’s legislative seats will be contested this general election, paperwork filed last week shows. A total of seven people filed by the May 31 deadline between Milton’s two voting districts, representing both sides of the aisle. Incumbent Republican Chris Mattos is running for re-election to the Chittenden 10 district, which he currently shares with Don Turner, the House minority leader.
