Fairfax/St. Albans – Joyce Ardelle (Mossey) Painter, 88, of Fairfax, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 in the Franklin County Health and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans. Joyce was born July 26, 1928 in Nicholville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Armond L. and Maude Irene Cane Mossey. Joyce graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Albans; she then graduated from Plattsburgh State College with a degree in nursing. MILTON – Dalton Loyd Villeneuve, 67, of Milton, passed away at home on Feb. 22, 2017. He spent the past two years fighting pancreatic cancer and drawing on the love and support from those closest to him. Dalton was an accomplished woodworker, handyman and gardener and was an avid football fan. He loved his children and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Barlow Casey to exit

Almost five months after she re-upped her contract, town manager Donna Barlow Casey handed in her formal resignation letter last week, she confirmed Monday. Barlow Casey had just negotiated an agreement with no definitive end-date last October. After meeting with the selectboard in executive session last Wednesday, Barlow Casey gave the required 30-day notice to leave her post; her last day is March 22, she said. Brown back as boys basketball assistant coach

Milton boys basketball coach Chris Brown is back on the bench after being placed on administrative leave earlier this month, superintendent Ann Bradshaw said Monday. Brown has assumed an assistant coach’s role for the rest of the season and will still be paid, Bradshaw said. Brown’s stipend for this season is $5,318, school board minutes show. “It was a mutual agreement,” Bradshaw said, while declining to comment further. ESSEX — Essex finished first in three of the four events in last Saturday’s gymnastics state championships, beating out Champlain Valley Union for the Hornets 12th straight state title. Allison Green of Essex won the individual title with a score of 36.775, just ahead of teammate Abigail Gehsman’s 36.650. Alexis Drown of Milton finished 21st in the four-event all-around competition, with Suraya Davis 24th and Kaylee Shaw 28th.
