Idell R. Snodell

Idell R. Snodell, 91, of Milton, passed away peacefully on Thursday night, Aug. 18, 2016 at the Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester. Idell was born Sept. 4, 1924 in Farmington, Mo. For many years, Idell lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Jean Smith of Milton, and later on went to live with Bruce and Kim Giguere of Milton. She lived with them for eight years. Redefining choice

It’s no secret what two words will make most Georgia residents’ ears perk up: school choice. But school board and community members charged with studying Franklin West Supervisory Union’s future under the landmark education reform law Act 46 are looking to redefine exactly what choice means. This summer, the 10-person committee split to study two options for unification: Asking the state to preserve FWSU through a Fairfax/Fletcher merger with Georgia standing alone as an alternative structure, and a three-town merger with a new high school. New admin team in place

A whole new leadership team will greet kids entering Milton Elementary and Middle School next week. Three all-new principals were just hired for the lower grade levels. Mary Fitzgerald was named pre-K-2 principal, Bridget Gagne the interim 3-5 principal and Becky Day the middle school principal. Day was offered a two-year probationary contract, while Fitzgerald and Gagne have one-year agreements, documents show. New director brings focus to facilities

Three months on the job, Bruce Cheeseman still has trouble finding his way around Milton High School, but as he wanders the halls, the changes he’s made are evident.
