Hemsted earns 100th win

Dylan Hemsted added to his trophy case with an outstanding performance on Saturday at the Bob Benoure Invitational, hosted by Colchester High School. Joining Hemsted was Milton  High School teammate Ian Kandzior, who competed in the 170 lb. division. Kandzior went two-for-two on the day, making it to the consolation semifinals before a tough loss ended his day. Hemsted’s performance was highlighted by his 100th career win. Yellowjackets’ streak ends at three

Burr & Burton’s Andy Ishu scored the night’s only goals with a pair on first-period power plays, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 win over Milton on Saturday night at Highgate Arena. Milton, which had racked up a tie and three straights wins since last losing on January 2 to first-place U-32, fell to 5-3-2 while Burr & Burton remained fourth, just ahead of the Yellowjackets in the Division II standings at 9-3. Vergennes presents Milton with 79-49 loss

It might have been Milton coach Jim O’Grady’s birthday, but it was the Vergennes Commodores who came away happy last Wednesday night. One of the top two teams in Division II jumped all over the Yellowjackets early and cruised the rest of the way to a 30-point victory in Milton, taking the final 79-49. The Commodores remain undefeated on the year with a record of 12-0, while Milton continued to struggle and fell to 3-8. Helen V. Hall

Milton / Winooski – Helen V. Hall, 64, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 30, 2013, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston with her loving family by her side. Helen was born on Sept. 7, 1948 in Burlington, the daughter of James and Barbara (Graves) Butterfield. On Oct. 23, 1976, she married Earl Hall, Jr. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Milton. Mrs. Hall worked for over 28 years at the Fanny Allen Hospital in Colchester. She also enjoyed playing bingo and her yearly trips to the casinos to play the slots with family and friends. Albert H. ‘Bert’ Bombardier

Milton –  Albert H. “Bert” Bombardier 86, of Bombardier Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2013 in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Bert was born Nov. 23, 1926 in Swanton, the son of the late Henri and Rose Alda Thibert Bombardier.  He attended schools in Swanton and in 1949, along with his parents, moved to Milton, residing on the family farm on Bombardier Road for the last 63 years.
